LANESBORO, MN —Minnesota voters will soon decide whether to renew the Environmental and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF), which allocates 40% of lottery revenues to support over 1,700 environmental projects since the early 1990s. Renewing the amendment would boost the fund’s interest rate from 5% to 7%, ensuring more resources for research, nonprofits, and educational programs.
At Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center, the ENRTF has been vital. The fund has helped support the Outdoor School Program—an immersive three-day experience for students—by providing financial aid to lower costs. Without renewed funding, rising fees could force many schools to cancel these enriching trips.
Voters are urged to mark “yes” on the ballot (a blank vote counts as “no”). If approved, this amendment won’t be revisited until 2050.
